Harrell Horne Integrated School (HHIS) started as a learning
center for the preparatory school age children of families in Bahayang Pag-Asa Subdivision,
Bacoor, Cavite, and nearby areas. It was then named Harrell Horne Learning Center (HHLC)
by its founder, Mrs. Ma. Luz Sarabia Villanueva a former public teacher whose professional
values and beliefs were and continue to be shaped and influenced by the ideas of Herman Harrell
Horne a nineteenth century American educator-philosopher.
At the time of its establishment in December 1993, HHLC was
affiliated with the National Federation of Women's Club
of the Philippines (NFWCP) for practical reasons. Some
documents required by DECS (now DepEd) to operate in
time for the June 1994 class opening were not yet ready.
However, on January 3, 1995, DECS grated a permit to
operate pre-school education program.
On its first year operation the NFWCP-affiliated HHLC
drew an unexpected enrolment of one hundred eight (108)
pre-school children. The number far exceeded the modest
enrolment target of more or less fifty (50) pre-schoolers.
The following year saw an even more impressive and
significant increase in the number of enrollees.
A year after its establishment and on account of its
rapid growth in enrolment and the clamor of parents for
a regular elementary school. HHLC was converted into a
Harrell Horne Integrated School (HHIS). The new name
reflected the integrated nature of the school
curriculum. Consequently, HHIS was incorporated under
the Philippine laws and was registered with the
Securities and Exchange Commission on April 3, 1995 as a
non-sectarian non-profit educational institution. And
was granted government recognition on February 2, 1996.
From a
humble one-room NFWCP-affiliated pre-school learning
center in December 1993, HHIS has gone a very long way.
It has metamorphosed into a competitive, modern and
efficient institution of learning offering pre-school,
elementary and secondary education programs. Through
the founder's unfailing faith, dedication and
determination, HHIS has now
a total of 27 classrooms housed in three (3) buildings
that include a four-storey high school structure
and a brand new separate pre-school education center
to accommodate an expanding school population which had
risen to 1,300.
Notwithstanding a relatively reasonable tuition, HHIS
continuously upgrades its facilities and equipment
ensure an effective teaching and learning environment.
